Thea P. Karamourtopoulos, 86, of Salem NH, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Born and raised in Andover, Thea was the daughter of Peter and Irene Dantos and worked at the family owned Andover Spa during her youth. She was a graduate of Punchard High School and Salem State College and was a grade school teacher for 32 years, mostly in the Lawrence School District. Thea loved shopping, walking on the beach, hosting parties and especially being with family and friends. She was the biggest fan at her grandchildren’s sporting events and loved watching the Celtics. Many of the fondest memories of her were in the kitchen preparing and enjoying Greek food. She was so proud of her Greek heritage and was an active member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church. Thea will be deeply missed by her 3 children, Peter and his wife Audrey of Fremont, NH, James and his wife Mary of Methuen, MA, Paul and his wife Cristen of Hampstead, NH; daughter-in-law Donna Karamourtopoulos of Amesbury, MA, 9 grandchildren, sister Cynthia and her husband George Chamberas of Salem MA, brother Paul Dantos of Houston, TX, many nieces and nephews and the “Fab Five” Group of sister-in-laws and nieces. Thea was pre-deceased by her husband Harry and son Barry. Family and friends will honor and celebrate Thea’s life by gathering for her calling hours on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Sts. Constantine & Helen Church, 71 Chandler Road Andover, MA 01810. Burial will follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Thea’s memory to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
