August 13, 1946 - April 6, 2019
Methuen, MA – Stephen A. Haley, 72, of Methuen passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston surrounded by his loving family. Steve was raised and educated in Lawrence, MA. He worked for over 40 years as an electrician for I.B.E.W. Local 522, which then merged with I.B.E.W. Local 103, until his retirement in December, 2006. He was a weekly communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Methuen and a member and a volunteer of St. Basil Cursillo Community in Methuen. He organized electricians to volunteer their time to remodel Lazarus House prior to its opening as a homeless shelter. He enjoyed working in his yard, especially tending to his roses and flowers, using his IPad, reading, and traveling with his wife, Jean. But most of all, it was family celebrations and taking care of his wife and family that brought him the most happiness. Being with his grandchildren was his true joy. Steve was born on August 13, 1946 to the late James A. and Marie B. (Nolet) Haley of Lawrence, MA. He is survived by his loving wife Jean A. (DeFrancesco) Haley, with whom he would have celebrated 42 years of marriage in May, and their children, Kathleen Stacy and her partner, Garry Deblasis of Methuen, Herbert Stacy and his partner, Sippy Olarsch of North Andover, and Christine and her husband, Glen Chase of Pelham, NH. Steve is survived by his seven grandchildren, Jacob Hillard, Teddy and Joseph Gosselin, Jordan and Jillian Stacy, and Caden and Campbell Chase; his twin brother, Jerry Haley and his wife, Lynne of North Andover, his brother, Tom and his wife, Eileen of Andover, and his sister, Maureen Haley of Lawrence. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Mary DeFrancesco and Patricia Haley both of Methuen, many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, James and John and his sister, Marilyn Haley. He also thought of Theresa and Al DiNuccio and their children as a part of his family. The family would like to thank the MGH Lundner 9 nurses and doctors who took such wonderful care of Steve in his final days.
