    Roger "Randy" Lavigne

    May 15, 1946 - January 7, 2018

Anyone who entered Randy’s orbit was embraced with love, compassion and an unequivocal sense of loyalty. His heart ruled his life and graced all of us with the profound sense of being loved very deeply. He had the remarkable gift of making people feel like they were the most important people in the world. His zest for life was contagious. An unsung hero, an honored veteran, and a Marine to the core, his service to his country was one of the things that made him most proud. From shrimp boat captain to door to door salesman to successful entrepreneur and business owner, Randy’s knack for success was the bedrock of his family life. He did not sell ice to the Eskimos, but he did once sell a vacuum to an Amish family that had no electricity. He’d grin and say that they were getting power soon. Although accomplished in so many ways, the center of his universe was his family. His wife, his children, his grandchildren, his siblings, his nieces and nephews, and all of those in his life that he considered to be “family” were the source of his greatest joy. He was the favorite uncle, the Dad who taught his son how to be a Dad, the Dad who was funny and sang songs in the car, the Dad who happily gave up his Sundays for horse shows, the Dad who taught us how to love unconditionally, the husband who lit up the dance floor with his wife. Despite being very ill at times, his face danced with pleasure whenever he shared moments with family whether in person or on facetime. He never wanted us to worry about him and always assured us that he was fine. The family joked that his would be his epitaph. And he is fine now. Very fine. He died surrounded with those he loved the most. He earned his Purple Heart, but more importantly, blessed his world with a heart of gold. His faithfulness and devotion made our lives richer and showed us how to love completely. Semper Fi, dear Randy. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Vietnam Veterans of America in memory of Randy (www.vva.org/donate/). Friends and guests are invited to call on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway Boscawen, NH 03303.
