    Marianne T. May

    April 19, 1935 - March 16, 2018

Marianne T. (Trzcinski) May, 82, of Methuen MA, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at High Pointe Hospice in Haverhill MA after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of William J. May, to whom she was married for 62 years. Marianne was born in Duryea, PA on April 19, 1935, the daughter of John and Phyllis (Bogdanski) Trzcinski. She was raised, educated and married in Bridgeport, CT. After her first child was born in 1956, the family moved to Massachusetts and she lived in Methuen for the next 61 years. While her family was young Marianne became a swimming instructor, teaching at the YWCA and local summer camps. She also volunteered with handicap swimming programs. She then worked full-time for Arlington Trust, followed by AVCO Systems in Wilmington, MA. When her youngest daughter left for college in 1980, Marianne decided to go to college as well while still working full-time. She graduated in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from New Hampshire College. Marianne was a very talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing for family and home. In her later years Marianne traveled extensively throughout Europe, with Rome as her favorite destination. Marianne will be deeply missed by her husband William; her son John May and his husband Christopher Sullivan of New York, NY; her 2 daughters Cynthia May and Jamie May Hart and her husband Edward Hart, all of Haverhill, MA. She leaves many nieces and nephews who will also miss her greatly. At the request of the family, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the High Pointe Hospice in care of Home Health Foundation, 360 Merrimack Street, Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 (www.homehealthfoundation.org) or to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Giving Program, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
