Joan H. Manning

November 21, 1931 - April 12, 2022

Joan H. Manning, age 90 passed away on Tuesday April 12, 2022 peacefully surrounded by family at the Nevins Nursing Home in Methuen. Born in Lawrence on November 21, 1931; the first daughter born to the late George and Gabrielle (Smeesters) Sap. She graduated Lawrence High School and went onto work at Western Electric, Portex then retired and worked part time at Stop & Shop. Joan was the beloved wife of the late Leonard J. Manning and started a family in North Andover, raised in Methuen then moved to Woburn. Joan loved going away to local places even though she visited France with her sister Joyce shortly after the passing of her mother. She loved playing bingo and most importantly spending quality time with family and friends. For over 30 years she enjoyed going away for Mother's day weekend with the girls; (sisters, daughters, nieces and as they got older granddaughters) in her family. Her greatest tribute was she cared more deeply about others around her than she did herself. She was the loving mother of Dan Manning and his wife Maria of Salem, Leslie Chaet and her husband Mark of Tewksbury and Ellen Manning of North Reading. Sister of Joyce Jalbert and June Bunkartas. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; April (Charlie), Dan, Patrick (Darren), Ryan (Natasha), Nicole (Andrew), Alexis (Frankie) and Evan. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren; Olivia, Kyle and Edward Leonard and nieces and nephews. Family and friends may gather for visiting hours at Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen on Monday, May 9, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
