    James "Jim" T. Charewicz

    April 12, 1933 - March 21, 2020

James “Jim” T. Charewicz, age 86 of Methuen passed away on March 21, 2020 at the Methuen Village at Riverwalk Park surrounded by his cherished family. Born in Lawrence on April 12, 1933 to the late Konstanty and Julia (Sadowska) Charewicz, he was a graduate of Lawrence High School with the Class of 1950. When he was a child, having only the radio and the Sunday newspaper for entertainment, Jim developed a talent for cartooning as he tried to copy the comics from the paper. As proclaimed in his own words “I guess I wanted to be the next Walt Disney,” Jim later attended Butera School of Art in Boston and had a lifelong passion for cartooning and painting. Like so many of his generation, Jim answered the call to service and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he continued his career with Raytheon that ran nearly four decades until his retirement. He enjoyed many of life’s simple pleasures; golf, bike riding, cross-country skiing, wood working, music, art, history and most of all spending time with his wife, sons and grandchildren. Jim touched many lives in many circles and will fondly be loved, cherished and missed by all. Jim was the beloved husband of Beatrice (Bourassa) Charewicz with whom he celebrated over 64 years of marriage together. He was the dear father to his two sons; Brian Charewicz & his wife Milena Vitali-Charewicz, and Barry Charewicz & his wife Laura Charewicz. Jim was the loving grandfather of Kyle Charewicz, Zachary Charewicz, and Rachel Charewicz. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Wanda Lee, Mary Jarosz, Laura Dow and his brother, Joseph Charewicz. Visitation for Jim will be held on Monday, June 29, 2020 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 29, 2020 11 AM at Saint Monica's Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Interment to be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the ALS Association, Gift Processing Center PO Box 37022 Boone, IA 50037.
