May 18, 2018
Georgiana “Georgi” (Kachadorian) White, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018. Born to George and Annie Kachadorian, she was a lifelong resident of Methuen, MA, raised in the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church and a graduate of Methuen High School. Upon graduation, Georgi was accepted into the Massachusetts General School of Nursing, where she was respected for her competency and leadership among the medical community. While raising her young family, she was encouraged by her husband Jerry, to finish her education at Emmanuel College upon which was accepted into the master's program at the Harvard School of Public Health. Asked to join the progressive department of legal medicine, her primary role was as administrator of the Harvard Medical School’s Institutional Review Board for the protection of human subjects in research (IRB). She also lectured extensively on the subjects of Law and Medicine to students of Harvard’s Medical and Law Schools. Both domestically and internationally, Georgi was committed to the policies that impacted public health issues such as the AIDS epidemic through her association with The World Health Organization. She proudly served as President of the Board of the Farnsworth House, which provided rent subsidized living communities for the Boston area elderly. Additionally, she was appointed as a fellow at the Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company for her contributions to their IRB. She continued her service as a committee member at the Harvard Medical School Committee on Human Studies until 2018. A lifetime learner, Georgi was an avid reader, loving the New York Times Crossword Puzzles, Nordstrom, and the Boston Red Sox. She loved the opera, arts and anything that bloomed. Her greatest love, however, was her family, friends, and community. Her loving and open spirit will be missed by anyone who ever knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry, with whom she shared 55 years, son, Erik White of Montclair, NJ, daughter, Andrea White Tyrones of Atlanta, GA, her granddaughters, Ava Eloise and Ariana Georgia Tyrones, brother Jim Kachadorian and wife Lea, of Woodstock, VT, sisters Elaine Kachadorian of Amherst, NH and Marion Palanjian and husband Jerry of Newport Beach, CA, nieces, Jennifer Sammataro and Jessica Rankin and nephews, George Kachadorian, Jim Sammataro, Alex Palanjian and her many loving cousins and friends. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA, from 4-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 24th, at 11 a.m. at the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church, 2 Salem Street, Salem, NH.
