    Eileen F. Dowd

    December 7, 1924 - October 31, 2021

    Eileen Frances (Sheehan) Dowd, 96, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday October 31, 2021 at the Nevins Rehab Center in Methuen, MA from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. Eileen was raised in Lawrence, MA, daughter of Edward and Ellen (Donoghue) Sheehan. Eileen graduated from Saint Patrick’s School in Lawrence. Eileen worked in the Payroll Department at the Pacific Mills before starting her family. Eileen was an energetic and wonderful mother who enjoyed time with her family. Eileen’s favorite quote was “laughter is the best medicine”, something she truly lived by. Eileen also enjoyed traveling with her family, morning water aerobics, reading, lunches with her friends, and time spent at Salisbury Beach. Eileen was an avid New England Patriots and Jeopardy Fan. Eileen was proud of her Irish Heritage and enjoyed corresponding and visiting with her cousins in Ireland. Eileen lost her husband and love of her life, Leonard J. Dowd, when she was 39 years old, leaving her to raise her eight children. Eileen was predeceased by her cherished daughter Eileen T. Dowd whom she lost in 2019, her brother Edward Patrick Jr., and sister Mildred. Eileen is survived by her children Daniel and his wife Jean of Nashua, Joyce Hansen of Andover, Jack and his wife Jennifer of North Conway, Brian and his wife Barbara of Chelmsford, Frank and his wife Kim of Methuen, Sheila of Methuen, and Rosemary and her husband Mark Manuel of Andover. Eileen leaves behind her loving 16 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren. Eileen also leaves behind her sister Judy Fallon and her brother Joseph and his wife Norma Sheehan. Friends and guests are invited to call on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish, 212 Lawrence St. Methuen. Burial will be followed at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 10 Ingalls Court, Methuen, MA 01844. Eileen’s family would like to thank the compassionate staff at the Nevin’s for the love and care they have provided.
