Edith M. Gormley, 94, of Methuen, MA, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 21, 2022. She was a resident of the Grace Morgan House Assisted Living Facility in Methuen, MA. Edith was born in Methuen on July 1, 1927, to the late Edwin and Edith Taylor. She was the widow of Thomas T. Gormley, her loving husband of 39 years. Edith was predeceased by her siblings, Edward Taylor of Salem, NH, Ralph Taylor of Cedar Hill, TX, Alfred Gilbert Taylor of El Paso, TX, and Jeanne Richardson of Oklahoma City, OK. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Alicia J. Stewart of Methuen. She was a devoted mother to her children, Thomas P. and his late wife, Rita Gormley of DeLeon Springs, FL, Dennis M. and his wife, Debi Gormley of Pt. Pleasant, NJ, the late Susan Gormley of Methuen, MA, Margaret J. and her husband, Kevin Alexander of New Port Richey, FL, Timothy J. and his wife, Linda Gormley of Nashua, NH, Peter C. and his wife, Cindy Gormley of Salisbury, MA, and Colleen P. and her husband, Steven M. Stewart of Methuen, MA. She was also a loving Nana to her 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Edith was a former employee of ITT Semiconductors in Lawrence, MA, and a longtime parishioner of St. Monica Church in Methuen. For a short time after retiring, she also worked at Greater Lawrence Technical School in Andover, MA as well as volunteering at the Meals on Wheels in Salem, NH. She brought a smile to the face of everyone she knew, through her sunny personality and consideration for others. She and her close friend Pat St. Louis spent many years wintering in California, getting there and back via cross country road trips. Her love for children and desire to make a positive impact drove her to do volunteer work at elementary schools in California, as well as at the Sacred Hearts School in Bradford, MA. She loved spending time at the family Taylor Farm next to Forest Lake when she was young. Throughout the years she loved solving word puzzles, reading, cooking, baking and listening to music. Her most beloved and treasured times were spent with her family, children and grandchildren. She spent her final years enjoying life at the Grace Morgan House in Methuen, MA enlightening everyone with her gentle and kind spirit. To all her many friends and family who knew her and loved her she was the kindest, sweetest, and most loving person you could ever know. In her lifetime, she will be remembered as someone who always put everyone else first instead of herself which was one of her key traits. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Family and Friends will honor and celebrate Edith’s life by gathering for her calling hours which will be celebrated from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Kenneth H Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
