    Dawn Elizabeth Davis

    May 25, 1959 - May 8, 2022

Dawn Elizabeth (Doucette) Davis, 62, of Methuen, passed away after a valiant, hope-filled battle with pancreatic cancer, on May 8, 2022 at her home in Methuen. Dawn was born at Bon Secours Hospital (now Holy Family) in Methuen on May 25, 1959. She graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1978. Dawn studied at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill while raising her 4 children and earned the Associate Degree in Nursing that launched her career as a Registered Nurse. Following her graduation, she worked in various long term care facilities throughout Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. Her work made a lasting difference to the lives of hundreds of seniors over the course of her 30+ year career in nursing. Dawn was very well known and appreciated for her many successful efforts to improve the quality of care in every long term care facility that she served. As Director of Nursing Services in many interim and permanent positions, Dawn brought compassion, intelligence and a knowledge base that was as broad as it was deep to the project of improving the quality of life of frail elders. While she enjoyed and valued her work in many nursing homes, the positions she loved most involved LTC facilities that were sponsored by the non-profit agency, Catholic Charities NH. After having served as Director of Nursing for several years at St. Anne’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Dover, NH, Dawn accepted the DNS position at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Windham, NH last year. Her colleagues at Warde, St. Anne's, and other LTC facilities are crestfallen at her loss. Dawn was beloved by her family and friends, as well as the residents and families at Warde Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Both her absence, and her influence, will be felt over the years to come by all who knew her. From the time, she was a child, it seems, Dawn was always on the go. Her siblings remember her as a very active child, and she was well-known in the South Lawrence neighborhood of her youth as being surprisingly feisty for such a little girl. As she grew, Dawn developed a love of travel and did so early, often, and widely. Some of her earliest independent trips were undertaken with friends in her late teens, and included Orlando, Florida and Puerto Rico. Dawn's most recent significant journey was to Italy, from which she returned with custom made Italian shoes and some very entertaining stories. Prior to the pandemic, Dawn also made frequent trips with friends to Casinos in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Nevada. The light of Dawn's life over the last 14 years has been her grandson, Mason R. Wyman, of Pelham, NH. She doted on him at every opportunity. Dawn adored Mason, who benefited from many years of affectionate attention, patient understanding, and showers of gifts from his beloved "Mimi." Dawn is also survived by her 4 children, Corey E. Davis of Haverhill, Shane M. Davis of Methuen, Ryan M. Davis of Methuen, and Kerry M. Davis of Methuen; her mother, Margaret (Crotty) Doucette of Windham, NH; her father, Donald J. Doucette and his long-time companion, Carole Phillips of Sarasota, FL; 2 sisters, Susan M. Black, of Clearwater, FL and Kimberly C. Bradford and her husband, Richard W. Bradford, of Seabrook, NH; several nephews, nieces, and cousins; and her dog, Bella. She is predeceased by her estranged husband, Michael ”Mickey” Davis, and her niece, Charleen M. Black. Family and friends will honor and celebrate Dawn’s life by gathering for her calling hours, which will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, May 16, 2022 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum in Lawrence. Contributions in Dawn’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 42040 or at www.cancer.org. To send an online condolence, please visit www.pollardfuneralhome.com. Dawn’s family is grateful for the valiant support of her employer, Catholic Charities NH and her colleagues at Warde throughout her illness. The Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Davis family.
