    Balwina W. Ward

    May 14, 1919 - November 9, 2021

    Methuen – Balwina S. “Bee” (Wasylak) Ward, 102, of Methuen passed away peacefully on November 9, 2021 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. Balwina was born in Lowell on May 14, 1919, daughter of the late Andrew Wasylak and Katherine (Volak) Wasylak. As a young woman, she worked in the Educator cookie factory in Lowell and later in the Arlington Mill in Lawrence. Balwina was married to the late Thomas N. Ward on June 22, 1941 and moved to Methuen where they raised their two children. In her younger years, Bee loved bowling, playing cards with her family members and going to Foxwoods for a day of fun. Her and her husband, Tom, were avid roller skaters and skated at many local roller rinks. Bee was a wonderful homemaker and took special care of her family, always having all the Holiday celebrations in her home, where her love and warmth will always be cherished and fondly remembered. She was a communicant of St. Monica’s parish in Methuen. Balwina is survived by her daughter, Patricia and her husband, Martin Gosselin, granddaughter, Carrie Wieland and her husband, Matthew, grandson, Charles Clark, and his girlfriend, Heidi Holmes, great granddaughter, Valayna Wieland, and great grandson, Matthew Wieland. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Marilyn Wasylak and several nieces and nephews. Balwina was recently predeceased by her son, Steven Ward, and was also predeceased by her great granddaughter, Valerie Ella Wieland. Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, immediately following calling hours, beginning promptly at 11:00 AM. Masks are strongly recommended at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA. Donations may be made in Balwina’s name to the Epilepsy Foundation, 3540 Crain Highway Suite 675 Bowie, MD 20716 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
