April 18, 1936 - June 6, 2020
Ann L. (Miner) Boyko, 84, longtime resident of Methuen, MA and former resident of Chipley, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. Ann was born in Pittsfield, MA, the daughter of the late Frederick W. and Florence L. Miner. She grew up in Otis, MA, and at the age of 18, proudly left the Berkshires to attend the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. She graduated in 1958 and dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to nursing at MGH. At the age of 50, she ambitiously pursued her BSN from St. Joseph's College in ME and continued her nursing career in Chipley, FL both as a bedside nurse and as an instructor, all while starting her coursework for her Masters in Nursing. In her earlier years, Ann was an accomplished pastry chef and master of the stitch while working as a Registered Nurse and raising two children. In her later years, Ann was an avid reader, enjoying nothing more than a new Jack Reacher novel. She was passionate about her orchids and African violets, and absolutely loved birds and cats. She will be dearly missed. Ann leaves behind her daughter Stephanie Boyko DiCenso of Methuen, her son Stephen Alexander Boyko of North Andover, her sisters Irene M. Rowley of Otis, MA, and Mildred M. Tullar of Elkhart, IN, her brother Frederick R. Miner of Sunny Hills, FL, three grandchildren, Alexa, Alex and Abby, and many nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her late husband Alexander Boyko and her son Kevin Loring Boyko. Ann's family wishes to publicly thank ALL staff responsible for her care at the Nevins Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Methuen, MA, especially the nurses and CNA's from Station B, for their extraordinary care and compassion over the last seven years. They are a truly dedicated group of healthcare workers who made a significant positive contribution to the quality of Ann's life. All services are private.
