March 9, 1965 - December 10, 2021
Albert S. Previte, III, age 56, of Kittery, ME, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Hyder Family Hospice in Dover, NH, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with glioblastoma. He was born in Methuen on March 9, 1965 to Harriet (Kaatz) Previte and the late Atty. Albert S. Previte, Jr. Albert grew up in Lawrence, MA, attending St. Augustine School and later Lawrence High School. Upon graduating from Suffolk University, he spent eighteen months as a seminarian before realizing his true calling in human services and law enforcement. From working with at-risk youth through with Job Corps and children at the Crotched Mountain School, he developed his innate compassion and empathy for others. He spent the past twenty years with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections based in Rockingham County as a parole officer, eventually managing the offices of the Seacoast area. He loved his career and was tailor-made for it. He took great pleasure in changing the lives of others for the better. Albert enjoyed spending his childhood summers in York, ME, where his passion for the ocean caused him to become an avid sailor. He was on top of the world when he was out at sea, whether enjoying weekend sails along the Maine coast with his wife Lisa and daughter Samantha or embarking on adventurous solo races to Bermuda. His niece, Caroline's brain tumor diagnosis, inspired Albert to sail across the Atlantic with three friends to raise awareness for pediatric brain cancer in 2009. Later, he would name his own sailboat "Caroline" in homage to her courage, spirit, and gusto. Ironically, it is with the same grit and determination, as well as his deep and tremendous faith, that Albert would spend the past twenty-three months facing his own brain tumor diagnosis. He spent his final months enjoying what he deemed most important: his wife, daughter, family, and friends. As he told the Portsmouth Herald when interviewed about his retirement, "I will enjoy what I have as long as I can. I have a lot of faith. I had a great and blessed life...It was a cherished and honorable life." He was predeceased by his father, Atty. Albert S. Previte, Jr. Albert leaves his beloved wife, Lisa (Prescott) Previte of Kittery, ME; his adored daughter Samantha Previte of Kittery, ME; his cherished mother, Harriet (Kaatz) Previte of Lawrence, MA; his siblings, Sarah (Previte) Hamilton, and her husband, Rick and their three children - William, Caroline, and Aidan, all of Methuen; Martha Previte of Kennebunk, ME; James Case and his wife, Dawn of Dansville, NY and Dana Anderson and his wife, Lisa of York, ME, his devoted and lifelong friends. In addition, he also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousin. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, December 16, 2021, from 3:00 -7:00 PM, at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street in North Andover, MA, on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 11:30 AM.
